Cluster beans also known as Gawar beans in Hindi. They have a distinct flavor and slightly
bitter in taste. Cluster beans are thin flat vegetable and about 2” to 3” long and have tiny
pods inside. They are widely grown in India. Young beans are harvested for vegetable use
and the mature pods are harvested for the production of guar gum for commercial purpose.
Cluster beans are low in calories and full with nutrition. Cooking this dish is little labor
intensive because each bean need to be stringed and chopped, but the result is worth the
effort. Out of India cluster beans are available in Indian grocery store, both fresh and frozen
types. This recipe Cluster Beans Peanut Curry is well combination for Rice or Chappathi.

Ingredients:
Cluster Beans - 300 gm
Onion - 1
Tomato - 1
Garlic pods - 12
Groundnut/Peanut - ½ cup
Dry Red chilli - 2
Turmeric powder - ½ tsp
Red chilli powder - 1 tsp
Mustard seed/Urad dal -1 tsp
Curry leaves - 1 spring
Salt as required
Oil for seasoning
Steps
Break the 300 gm cluster beans into 1 inch pieces. Add them into a pan with 2 cup water and
1/2 tsp turmeric powder and cook for 5 minutes.
In parallel, in a pan dry roast ½ cup peanut or groundnut.
In a mixture jar, add roasted peanut , 12 garlic pods, 2 dry red chilli and make it coarse
paste.
Now Cluster beans also cooked in parallel. Drain the water and keep it aside.
In a pan, heat 3 tsp of oil.
Once oil hot, add 11 tsp mustard seed urad dal mix.
Once mustard starts splutter, add 1 leaflet curry leaves.
Then add 1 chopped onion and cook until it gets wilted.
Then add 1 chopped tomato, required salt, 1 tsp red chilli powder and cook until tomato
become soft.
Then add ground peanut paste and give a stir.
Cook this until the raw smell of garlic goes off. Using raw garlic for peanut paste, will very
good flavor to the recipe.
Now add cooked cluster beans and mix it to combine all.
Cook this for 5 minutes or until the oil separates on top.
Now, mouth watering garlic cluster beans peanut curry is ready to serve.
